Lately, I've been noticing there are areas in my life that I feel stuck, or bound up. One area I've been struggling with is creativity! It's a terrible place to be as an artist because creating is almost as important as breathing!
Whenever I need to come out of a creative block I try to go back to basics... here is a list of things that have helped me.
1. I try to go back to the JOY of creating. Like a child. (See previous posts)
2. It also helps to find inspiration in the artwork of others. I've really enjoyed the free spirit and artwork of Ashley Whittenburger at: http://www.cosmic-acres.com/
3. I need to prioritize! I've committed to spend at least 3 days a week creating.
4. Exercise! This wakes up my brain, body and soul.
5. Create art without fear of failure. It's important to do what you like and not worry if it will please others. Just have fun!
6. Prayer. I commit my works to God, hoping He will guide my hand.
7. Switch up my studio environment. Paint outside - paint with others, etc.
This week I decided to do a piece that brings on the feeling of JOY! I'm so happy with the way it turned out ~ I feel happy just looking at it!
Titled: "Fireflies!"
I'm hoping to keep this creative vibe going for a long while.
This blog is created to journal the process of awakening the artist in me and will hopefully inspire others to get started on their own journey as well. From the first stroke to the last – enjoy the journey and recapture the joy of making art!
